Crochet Circle Square

What you’ll need
You can choose any yarn you like to crochet this square motif. Just to give you an idea of the size, with sock yarn and a 2 mm crochet hook, the motif is going to be about 7,5 cm (about 3 inches).
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.

Instructions
Make a magic ring.

  • Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 15 dc in the ring, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
  • Round 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch-2 sp), (dc in next dc, ch 2) around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch5.
  • Round 3: Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), in same ch-2 sp work 2 dc, ch 1, * in next ch-2 sp work 3 dc, ch 1; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
  • Round 4: Sl st in next 2 dc and in ch-1 sp, ch 1 and sc in same sp, ch 3, * sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 3 times; repeat from * 3 times, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 2 times, join with sl st in first sc.
  • Round 5: Sl st in ch-3 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, * in ch-6 sp work (5 dc, ch 2, 5 dc), 3 dc in each of every next ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
  • Round 6: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 dc, picot, * sc in next 5 dc and in ch-2 sp, picot, sc in same ch-2 sp and in next 5 dc, picot, (sc in next 3 dc, picot) 3 times; repeat from * 3 times, sc in next 5 dc and in ch-2 sp, picot, sc in same sp and in next 5 dc, picot, (sc in next 3 dc, picot) 2 times, join with sl st in first sc.

 Picot: ch 3 and sl st in top of sc. 

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
