What you’ll need
You can choose any yarn you like to crochet this square motif. Just to give you an idea of the size, with sock yarn and a 2 mm crochet hook, the motif is going to be about 7,5 cm (about 3 inches).
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.

Instructions
Make a magic ring.
- Round 1:Ch 3 (counts as dc), 15 dc in the ring, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
- Round 2:Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch-2 sp), (dc in next dc, ch 2) around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch5.
- Round 3:Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), in same ch-2 sp work 2 dc, ch 1, * in next ch-2 sp work 3 dc, ch 1; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
- Round 4:Sl st in next 2 dc and in ch-1 sp, ch 1 and sc in same sp, ch 3, * sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 3 times; repeat from * 3 times, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 6, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 2 times, join with sl st in first sc.
- Round 5:Sl st in ch-3 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, * in ch-6 sp work (5 dc, ch 2, 5 dc), 3 dc in each of every next ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
- Round 6:Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 dc, picot, * sc in next 5 dc and in ch-2 sp, picot, sc in same ch-2 sp and in next 5 dc, picot, (sc in next 3 dc, picot) 3 times; repeat from * 3 times, sc in next 5 dc and in ch-2 sp, picot, sc in same sp and in next 5 dc, picot, (sc in next 3 dc, picot) 2 times, join with sl st in first sc.
Picot: ch 3 and sl st in top of sc.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
