Simple Crochet Heart

This free crochet heart pattern is super easy and fun to make and works up extremely quickly. These small, cute hearts can be used throughout the entire year to dress up clothes and accessories.
The red Simple Crochet Heart is crocheted with six-strand embroidery floss and a 2 mm crochet hook. It measures 5 by 5 cm (2 by 2 inches). You can use different yarn weights to create hearts of various sizes.
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.

Instructions
Make a magic ring (or ch 4 and join with sl st in first ch to form a ring).

  • Round 1:Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in the ring, (ch 2, 3 dc in the ring) 3 times, ch 2, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
  • Round 2:Sl st in next 2 dc and in next ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), in same ch-2 sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1, * in next ch-2 sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
  • Round 3:Sl st in next 2 dc and in next ch-2 sp, 12 tr in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next ch-2 sp, 12 tr in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next ch-2 sp.
  • Round 4:This round is worked in the trebles of Round 3 and the double crochets and spaces of Round 2.
    Sc in same sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next 3 dc, 3 sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next 11 tr, sl st in next tr, in next ch-2 sp and in next tr, sc in next 11 tr, join with sl st in first sc.

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
