Each layer of this double layered flower is made with the instructions below. You can make flowers with as many layers as you want. The trick is to use different sizes of yarns and hooks.
Just to give you an idea of the size, the pink flower is crocheted with cotton thread size 10 and a 2 mm crochet hook and it measures about 5,5 cm (about 2,16 inches) in diameter.
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.

Instructions
If you want to create a flower (single layer) with a single color:
Make a magic ring.
- Round 1:Ch 3 (counts as dc), 17 dc in the ring, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.
- Round 2:* (ch 3, 2 tr) in same st, ch 3 and sl st in 3rd ch from hook (to create picot), (2 tr, ch 3, sl st) in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st, sl st in next st; repeat from * around.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
If you want to create a flower (single layer) with two different colors:
Make a magic ring with the first color.
- Round 1:Ch 3 (counts as dc), 17 dc in the ring, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3. Fasten off.
- Round 2:Join second color with sl st in any dc, * (ch 3, 2 tr) in same st, ch 3 and sl st in 3rd ch from hook (to create picot), (2 tr, ch 3, sl st) in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st, sl st in next st; repeat from * around.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
Crochet a flower with only one layer…
or crochet two or more different sized layers and stack them one on top of the other. Sew through all the layers, fastening the whole flower together. Embellish with a bead, button or rhinestone.

Just wanted to say, this pattern is precious! I love to crochet while I wait in lines, and this is perfectly simple to create. There are a multitude of uses for this flower pattern. I’m mismatching colors and buttons to create unique pieces. Hopefully, I can pass them to children, so they can get interested in new (old) crafts.
