Crochet Propeller Square

What you’ll need
You can choose any yarn you like to crochet this square motif. Just to give you an idea of the size, with 6 strand embroidery floss and a 2,5 mm crochet hook, the square is about 11 cm (about 4,3 inches).
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.

Instructions
Make a magic ring.

  • Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the ring, (sc in the ring, ch 3, sc in the ring) 7 times, sc, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, ch 1 and hdc in first sc (counts as last ch-3 sp).
  • Round 2: Ch 6 (counts as trtr), 2 trtr in the same sp, (ch 5, 3 trtr in next ch-3 sp) 7 times, ch 2 and dc in 6th ch of first ch6 (counts as last ch-5 sp).
  • Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, * ch 6, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 6 **, in next ch-5 sp work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc); repeat from * 3 times and from * to ** once more, in next ch-5 sp work 3 dc, ch 1 and hdc in 3rd ch of first ch3 (counts as last ch-3 sp).
  • Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same ch-3 sp, * (ch 3, in next ch-6 sp work 5 dc) 2 times, ch 3 **, in ch-3 sp work (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc); repeat from * 3 times and from * to ** once more, in next ch-3 sp work 3 dc, ch 1 and hdc in 3rd ch of first ch3 (counts as last ch-3 sp).
  • Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, * (ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 5, sc in 3rd dc) 2 times, ch 5, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 5 **, in next (corner) ch-3 sp work (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc); repeat from * 3 times and from * to ** once more, in next ch-3 sp work 3 dc, ch 5 and join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch3.

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
