With this free crochet pattern you will learn how to create a beautiful lacy heart. Crochet hearts are easy and quick projects and the best way to use your scrap yarn. They are a popular choice at Valentine’s Day but they make perfect year-round small gifts. Depending on the time of the year you can make them in any colors.
Both the blue and the red hearts are crocheted with cotton thread size 10 and a 2 mm crochet hook and they measure about 5,5 by 5,5 cm (2,16 by 2,16 inches). You can choose any kind of yarn in any weight you like.
The silver heart as well as the variegated are crocheted with metallic thread. For the earrings, I worked with two strands of the same silver metallic thread together.
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.
I slightly stiffened the hearts brushing pva glue diluted with water on the wrong side of the heart.

Instructions
Make a magic ring.
- Round 1:Ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch 2), in the ring work (dc, ch 2) 5 times, pull the thread end to tighten the ring and join with sl st in 3rd ch of first ch5.
- Round 2:Ch 2, hdc in next ch-2 sp, (ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next ch-2 sp) twice, ch 2, tr in next dc (center bottom of heart), (ch 2, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc) twice, ch 2, hdc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, join with sl st in same st as beginning ch2 at center top of heart.
- Round 3:Ch 3, dc in hdc, ch 2, tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, tr in next dc, ch 2, tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next ch-2 sp) 3 times, ch 2, tr in next tr (center bottom of heart), (ch 2, dc in next ch-2 sp) 3 times, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, tr in next dc, ch 2, tr in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in next hdc, ch 3, join with sl st in same st as beginning ch3.
- Round 4:3 sc in ch-3 sp, [in next ch-2 sp work (sc, ch 3, sc)] 8 times, in tr work (sc, ch 3, sc), [in next ch-2 sp work (sc, ch3, sc)] 8 times, 3 sc in ch-3 sp, join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
