What you'll need
You can choose any yarn you like to crochet this heart. Just to give you an idea of the size, with cotton thread size 10 and crochet hook size 2 mm, the heart is going to be about 5 by 5 cm (2 by 2 inches).
You will also need a needle to weave in loose ends and a pair of scissors.
Make a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 2, 3 tr, 4 dc, tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 2, pull the thread end to tighten the ring, sl st in the ring.
- Round 2: 2 sc in first ch2 sp, (hdc, dc) in first tr, (3 dc in next tr) twice, dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next dc, (dc, tr, dc) in tr, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st, (3 dc in tr) twice, (dc, hdc) in next tr, 2 sc in ch2 sp, join with a sl st in first sc.
- Round 3: Sc in next sc, sc in hdc, (2 hdc, dc) in dc, (2 dc) 4 times, dc in next 8 st, (2 dc, htr, 2 dc) in tr, dc in next 8 st, (2 dc) 4 times, (dc, 2 hdc) in last dc, sc in hdc, sc in sc, sl st in last sc, join with a sl st in sl st or in the ring.
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
These are also made with the same heart motif, but they look so different.
To make a 3d heart, crochet two motifs. Line them up with wrong sides facing. Hold the yarn behind the work, insert the hook through corresponding chains on both pieces and work a row of sc, one sc into each pair of chains. Leave a small opening and fill until desired plumpness with preferred stuffing. Sc the remaining chains to close the opening. Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
This heart makes beautiful pendants, purse or key chain charms, brooches, Christmas decorations, baby mobiles.
This delicate heart is crocheted with wire. Crocheting with wire is a little bit tricky, so If you haven't tried it, I would suggest experimenting with something very simple at the beginning, try different gauge wire and crochet hooks.
For this heart, I used silver plated copper wire 0,20 mm and aluminum crochet hook 1,75 mm. It is 4,5 by 4,5 cm (1,77 by 1,77 inches). I wasn't happy with the colour, so I then used alcohol inks to make it vibrant and colourful.
